Getting your dream pet is exciting. Losing it to a scam? Not so much.

Unfortunately, scammers are everywhere in Adopt Me. They often target newer players, but even experienced traders can get caught off guard. The good news is that most scams follow the same patterns, and once you know what to look for, they're much easier to avoid.

The Biggest Rule: If It Sounds Too Good to Be True

If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. A player offering a Shadow Dragon for your random ultra-rare? A website promising free pets? Someone claiming they can duplicate your items? Run.

Scammers rely on excitement and urgency. They want you to stop thinking and start clicking. Whenever you see an offer that seems unbelievably generous, take a step back and ask yourself why someone would do that. The answer is usually simple: they wouldn't.

Use Trading Sites Wisely

Websites like AMVGG, Elvebredd, and Traderie can be useful tools for checking values, researching trades, and finding potential offers. However, you should use these sites carefully.

Many scammers will direct you to links in their Roblox profile, Traderie listing, YouTube comments, Discord messages, or in-game chat. They may claim you need to "verify" your account, "join a giveaway," or "add their alt” via a link in their profile.

Never click random links provided by strangers. If you want to use a trading website, navigate to it yourself. Type the address manually or use a trusted bookmark. Do not trust links sent by other players.

Fake Roblox Login Pages

One of the most common scams involves fake Roblox login screens. A scammer sends you a link. The website looks exactly like Roblox. It asks you to sign in. You enter your username and password. A few minutes later, your pets are gone.

Before entering your Roblox credentials anywhere, always check the website address carefully. Scammers often use lookalike domains such as robIox.com (capital "i" instead of lowercase "l"), ro-blox.com, or other slight variations designed to fool players.

Always verify that you're on the real Roblox website before logging in. When in doubt, close the page and go directly to Roblox yourself.

Beware of "Free Pet" Livestreams and Videos

You've probably seen them. A TikTok video claims you can get a free Frost Dragon by changing your email address. Someone is livestreaming spinning a wheel. These videos are designed to get clicks, interaction, and account information.

The safest response is simple: close the video, do not interact, and move on. No legitimate giveaway requires you to give away your Roblox account information.

Never Trust Trade-Back Deals

A common scam starts with: "Trust trade me", "I'll trade it back, I promise", or "Let me borrow your pet for a video."

Once you hand over your pet, there's no guarantee you'll ever see it again. If a trade requires trust, don't do it. Use the official Adopt Me trading system and only complete trades you're comfortable with permanently.

Enable Extra Security

Protecting your account is just as important as avoiding scams. We recommend:

  • Using a strong password
  • Enabling two-factor authentication (2FA)
  • Never sharing your password with anyone
  • Logging out of devices you no longer use

Even if someone learns your password, 2FA can help keep your account secure.

When You're Unsure, Ask

One of the best ways to avoid scams is to get a second opinion. If a trade feels strange, a website looks suspicious, or something doesn't seem right, ask a trusted friend or family member for their opinion.

A few minutes of caution can save years of progress.

Your dream pet is worth protecting. Stay safe, trade smart, and keep grinding.
